Where do I go to Church?
Go to the BYU-Idaho home page and click on Students, then Campus Life, then Ward and Stake Locator or enter the following link into your internet browser:

You will need to know your room assignment to access your ward assignment.

When can I pick up my mail?
Mail is delivered to your apartment mailbox Monday through Friday before my office hours start. I will post a flag in the courtyard indicating that the mail is sorted and ready (so don’t come ask me when it’s here…you’ll be 1 of 70 asking that day and it will just be easier to look for the flag :D. You share your mailbox with your roommates. Occasionally notices from the Housing Office or announcements for dorm activities and meetings will be put in your mailbox. Share this information with your roommates.

How do I receive a package?
The USPS delivers mail, including packages, Monday through Saturday to our dorm. If you receive an item that will not fit in your mail box, you will receive an email from me. The email will notify you that you have received a package.
If you have a package sent to you that requires a signature for delivery (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.) it will be delivered to Stores and Receiving at the Auxiliary Services building on campus. They will notify you via email (it will be marked as an email from “Ryan Stapleton”) that you have received a package to pick up. You may contact Stores and Receiving at (208) 496-2323 if you have any questions about your mail or packages.

What if I leave town overnight?
An overnight travel info slip needs to be filled out any time you spend the night away from the dorm. Since you live on campus, legally we need to know where you are if you go somewhere overnight. Specific info can be found on the bulletin board just outside my office. You could also send the me an email with the overnight pass information. When you return, please send an email to hagenj@byui.edu, OR stop by and let me know you’re home safely.

When can men visit my dorm?
Men must leave Perkins Hall in time to arrive at their own apartment by curfew. Men are allowed to visit the dorm AFTER 12:00 PM (noon).
Before 12:00 PM (noon), men are allowed to visit in the main lounge during lounge hours only. They are NOT allowed in stairwells, courtyard, or apartments.
AFTER 12:00 PM (noon), men are allowed to visit your apartments if the both sets of blinds are up (not just open), and when it gets dark a kitchen or living room light needs to be on. There needs to be at least three people in the kitchen or living room area when men visit.

May I have a guest spend the night in my room?
All overnight guests (females only) must have the permission of your roommates and must register with the head resident. Overnight guests may not stay longer than 2 or 3 nights. Guests may NOT stay during check in and check out times.

Can I use main lounge TV for my personal use?
You can reserve the lounge (and TV) for large groups during your head resident’s office hours. Note that men are not allowed in the 2nd floor lounge when you reserve it (to the right of Apartment 209). You may use the TV in the 2nd floor lobby to plug in your game equipment. Please plug everything back in as you found it when you are finished (not everyone may be as handy with media hook-ups as you are). The TV in the main lobby is for the use of all residents, and may not be used to play video games, or personal VCRs or DVD players.

Can I use dorm games & movies?
Absolutely, we have many games & movies just for you! There is a list of all materials available for checkout including movies in a binder on top of the ledge of your head resident’s office desk. You may check out movies during your head resident’s office hours, or from an office volunteer.

Can I use the lounge tables and chairs for special events in my apartment?
If you need extra seating and tables for Family Home Evening or other activities, please come reserve them during office hours. If you have reserved them and you’re finished using them for the night, please wipe them down and bring them back to the lounge. It’s a great time to find out which guys are really helpful (you want to keep those ones) :D

Where do I do my laundry?
The laundry room is located to the right of Apartment 109. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The washing machines are $1.00 per load, and the dryers are $.25 per 20 minutes. If there are any problems with the dryers or machines, please let me know which ones and what seems to not be working (and it may help to put a sticky note on which one isn’t working for other tenants’ FYI).

Where can I put my bike?
You need to get your bike registered with Campus Police. Periodically, bikes will be impounded for not being registered, or not being parked in the appropriate locations around the building. There is a bike rack in front of Apartments 114 & 107.

What if I lose money in the vending machines, washing machine or dryer?
If you lose money in the vending machines, please go to the Manwaring Center to receive a refund. If you lose money in the washing machine or dryer, you may get a refund from the head resident’s office during office hours within 24 hours of losing your money.

Where is the lost and found?
The lost and found is in the Manwaring Center. You may also call 208-496-2200 (BYU-I Info line) for more information. We don’t have a lost and found in my office, anything found needs to be taken to the Manwaring Center.

Where do I put my garbage?
There are large garbage cans located on the south side of the building, just to the right of the laundry room. Please tie your bags of garbage, and dump them in the dumpsters. DO NOT dump your trash in the main lounge garbage cans (inside or outside). These cans cannot accommodate every resident’s room garbage.

What do I do if I get locked out of my room?
Keep your room key with you at all times! Even when you are going next door! It is not your roommates’ fault if they lock the door when you are out of the room. Keeping your key with you is your responsibility. If you get locked out, please feel free to wait in the lounge until one of your roommates gets home.

May I move furniture out of my room?
Furniture may not be moved out of the room or lounge to which it is assigned without head resident approval. Also do not move the lounge furniture into your rooms. You may bring in furniture of your own as long as it is removed from your apartments at check-out time. See Lounge Use if you are interested in reserving large tables and additional chairs for large groups/special occasions.

What if something is broken or stained in my room?
If you notice anything that needs to be fixed, pick up a Service Request form found on the bulletin board by the office. If you email hagenj@byui.edu to notify me of a request, please make sure you include all of the same information that is on those slips, or it may not be able to be processed. Occasionally there are assessments if the damage is more than just normal wear and tear. Stains will not be assessed unless the custodian cannot remove the stain.

When are clean checks?
Clean checks are weekly from 4-5 PM on Thursdays. Your Head Resident will be checking at least 10 apartments at random each week, so be ready every week. You may be checked four weeks in a row or once every other week or any other combination…so be ready!
